Primo's Donuts //
Ivy Staion
Unbuilt Bakery Interior
Calling all commuters, Primo’s Ivy Station was scheduled for arrival near the Culver City Expo Line Metro Station in 2022. Part of a neighborhood corporate tech regentrification, the mixed-use Ivy Station complex offers an all-in-one block lifestyle to the man’s modern servants. Wake-up, pick-up breakfast, go to work, get swole, smash a pint, and grub-down all within different compartments of the complex.
Due to tenant restrictions, the roughly 925 SF unit could only contain a prep kitchen, meaning all food was to be properly baked off-site. However, the open prep kitchen still would have been visible to watch espresso brew and buns toast while ordering. Following sprinkled long john inspired countertops back to access rear counter seating, custom veneer wood paneled walls featured vertical elliptical long john shaped recesses. Looking up, layers of pink frosted stepping concentric long johns descended over the service counters. Providing more dining options, the front window was seated with a long bar counter inside, while outside provides a café patio, shading optional. Old Hollywood meets retro disco décor creates Primo’s signature Mid-Centurish ambiance. Unfortunately, the project was postponed and eventually scrapped due to COVID events and effects.
